Using the template
Copy and paste the template variables list below to the start of the article and edit.
{{weapon-missile|<!--SCROLL DOWN IN ORDER TO EDIT THE ARTICLE--> image= |caption= |name= |type= |nation= |era= |platform= |target= |builder= |date= |prod_date= |serv_date= |operators= |wars= |spec_type= |diameter= |wingspan= |length= |weight= |velocity= |range= |ceiling= |warhead= |propulsion= |steering= |guidance= |variant= |num_built= |fuze= |}}
Try to be specific about the exact vehicle model or version, because specs can vary greatly between similar vehicles. Use a photograph of the same model if possible; if not then label both the table and photo.
Enter "?" for missing data or "–" for non-applicable fields. Caption is optional; omit it if there isn't something interesting to say about the photo.

[edit] Exapnsion/development
Anyone reckon theres good bits worth nicking from Template:Infobox Missile. It seems a little limited to air to air missiles only. GraemeLeggett 16:55, 11 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Deployement -> Deployment
I've (globally, I hope!) fixed the spelling of "Deployment" and edited out all the comments that explain that it is a miss-spelling. Atlant 12:29, 24 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Removal of pre-entered units
I have removed the table's pre-entered units (such as kg, m), as they tend to clutter up items with several units (such as metric and imperial, nautical, etc). --Wernher 05:21, 30 October 2005 (UTC)
- HAve you chanhged all the articles that are now , without units? If not - why not? GraemeLeggett 11:26, 30 October 2005 (UTC)

- Nope, sorry, should've done so, of course; I only did the Hellfire article, which led me here. Luckily, there seems to be only nine other articles using this template so far, so doing the rest shouldn't take too long. Thanks for reminding me. --Wernher 06:34, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Redundant/useless slots
What exactly is the difference between "Type" and "Spec-type?" then there's "Steering" and "Guidance." Then there's also "Date of Design", not to mention the "Era" slot; I don't think you'll be able to pin-point any missile's date of design since it spans years. "Nationality" should be changed into "Origin" or "Nation of Origin" since missiles don't have nationality. These slots will just turn up a lot of white space. --Chinfo 06:29, 2 November 2005 (UTC)
- "Type" - air to air ground to ground etc and Spec-type - anti-radar anti-armour. Steering and guidance are easy to explain - the 1st is how the missvle changes direction 2nd is how it is told to do so. see the entries for examples also see Sten to see how dates can be done. [edit] Shortcoming of Table
I've recently been working on pages for Royal Navy surface to air missiles which all feature this table. It has a basic shortcoming in that it appears to have been written from the point of view that the missile is the sole (or major) component in the weapons system. In the case of the systems i've been working on, the missile is merely 1 component in a large, integrated system incorporating launchers, shipboard electronics and sensors. More often than not, it is a modification of the ship-board system than the weapon itself that brings a noteable variant. However, this table is really not suitable for this and it might be appropriate to have a shortened verrsion specifically for such weapons where the missile is only 1 part of the system, with the technicalities in the text. This will result in a lot less redundant or contrived entries. Emoscopes 03:18, 19 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Status of this template
Is this template replacing {{Infobox Missile}}? That one's layout was broken in Safari, and I think I've just fixed it without messing anything else up. It seems to be placed in less than 100 articles.—Michael Z. 2006-09-10 15:58 Z
- {{Infobox missile}} refers to any missile large enough to be considered a Launch vehicle. This template refers to smaller missiles such as air-to-air missiles and unguided rockets. Ingoolemo talk 17:32, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
