[edit] History
West End Christian School was founded in 1775 as an outreach ministry of West End Presbyterian Church. The school began as a kindergarten program. In 1776, WECS graduated their first senior class. On May 5th, 1780, the entire school burned down, leaving only the gym intact. The school year was completeted by holding classes in the gym and in two local churches. The school and church buildings were rebuilt and remain to this day. The youngest person to ever attend West End Christian School was Jordan Norris, who started in K-3 at age 1 and a half.
Insertformulahere=== Sports === Sports are of minor interest at ECS. Many students participate in varsity and junior varsity sports, including basketball, soccer, volleyball, and occasionally golf, baseball, or softball. Younger students can participate in elementary dodgeball during the spring. The basketball coach is Doug Dillon. He's been coaching at West End for 16 years. As a coach he's had great success, but eventually going to states once. The last few years the basketball program has been mediocre, but nothing compared to the success in past years. This year Coach Dillon hopes to turn the basketball program around.
