West Trenton Line

The West Trenton Line is a planned commuter rail service that would be operated by New Jersey Transit, connecting West Trenton Station with Newark Penn Station. The train would connect with the Raritan Valley Line at Bridgewater and would allow for transfers to the line at any between Bridgewater and Newark. As of 2004, New Jersey Transit's estimate of the cost of creating a passenger line to West Trenton was $197 million.[1]
Currently the railroad tracks are used by CSX and there are no station platforms along the line except at West Trenton, which is currently used by SEPTA R3 West Trenton, a commuter line to Philadelphia.

[edit] Hillsborough
In earlier plans, residents of Hillsborough tried to get the proposed train station moved to Sunnymeade road between Hillsborough and Manville.[2]. If Hillsborough builds a town center, it has been proposed that a transit village would be incorporated within the center along Business Route 206 with the future train station. The station, therefore, would have to be located on Amwell, Homestead, or Hillsborough Road. Amwell Road is a less likely location for it, as the 206 Bypass would cross near the intersection of Amwell Road and the train tracks and could create traffic problems. If a more southerly station were chosen, the Belle Mead station would likely be removed or moved further south in its plans.
