Where the Wild Things Are (song)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Where the Wild Things Are" is a song written by James Hetfield, Jason Newsted and Lars Ulrich of Metallica, and appearing on the 1997 Metallica album ReLoad. At six minutes and 54 seconds it is the third longest song on the album ("Fixxxer" being the longest at eight and a half minutes). The song's slow tempo is indicative of the band's movement away from its thrash metal origins. The general atmosphere of the song may be best described "psychedelic", since it contains many complex drum and bass parts and effects that are unique in the works of Metallica. The lyrics of the song describe a child soldier's feelings, and it is based on the book Where the Wild Things Are. This song was originally named "Martini" [[1]].
This is one of the three songs that bassist Jason Newsted wrote during his fourteen-year tenure in Metallica.[citation needed]
