William B. Ellern

William B. Ellern (born November 30, 1933) is an American science fiction author. Ellern has worked as an engineer, including for the Jet Propulsion Labs.
He was born in Spokane, Washington, USA to Bernice M. Ellern and William Ellern, Sr.
In July 1965 he asked for, and received, permission from E. E. Smith to extend the Lensman series of novels. Since that time he wrote science-fiction short stories, including "Moon Prospector" (Analog, 1966), "New Lensman Serials" (Perry Rhodan Magazine, 1975) and "Triplanetary Agent" (Perry Rhodan Magazine, 1978).
In 1976 New Lensman was published, containing a chapter called Moon Inspector, based on a piece called Moon Prospector which Ellern had written for the April 1966 issue of Analog. He is on the board of directors of the Los Angeles Science Fantasy Society, with a term expiring in 2008.
He is married to Anne Morrel.
William B. Ellern has a son (William A. Ellern) and daughter (Lorita Ellern).
