The Windy City ThunderBolts are a minor league baseball team which plays in Crestwood, Illinois. The team is a member of the Independent Frontier League, and is associated with no Major League Baseball team. The team was originally known as the Cook County Cheetahs from 1999 until 2003. 'Windy City' refers to the city of Chicago's nickname, as Crestwood is a suburb of Chicago.
The team plays at Hawkinson Ford Field.
The team was previously named the Cook County Cheetahs prior to the 2004 season. An ownership change instigated the name change.
