WLOW-FM, owned by Triad Broadcasting, was playing standards as "WLOW 107.9 - Good Times, Great Memories" until January 2006. After playing Christmas music during the 2005 holiday season, WLOW rebranded itself and launched a new format (a more uptempo Soft AC) on the frequency as "Familiar Favorites - 107.9 The Coast". Songs can range from Frank Sinatra to The Beach Boys to The Bee Gees.
It remains to be seen if WLOW will garner significant ratings, as Clear Channel's own Soft AC WYKZ does well playing mostly the same songs, as does Thoroughbred Communications' WRHQ. Plus Triad Broadcasting's own WGZO-FM (Classic Hits as 103.1 The Drive) plays a lot of the same songs as WLOW.
