WVII-TV "ABC 7" is an ABC-affiliated television station broadcasting in Bangor, Maine. The station broadcasts an analog signal on VHF channel 7 and a digital signal on UHF channel 14. WVII's transmitter is located in East Eddington and is shared with sister station WFVX-LP channel 22, the area's primary FOX and secondary MyNetworkTV affiliate. WFVX does not broadcast a digital signal of its own, and as a result, is carried on WVII's DT2 digital subchannel.
WVII and WFVX are owned by Rockfleet Broadcasting of New York City. WVII produces a weekday 10 PM newscast for WFVX known as Your Bangor News at 10. Master control of WFVX is located at WVII's studios and the two stations share a website. WVII serves as the default ABC affiliate for the Presque Isle television market via cable.

[edit] History
The station first took to the air on October 15, 1965, under the callisign of WEMT-TV. The current call letters, WVII-TV, were adopted in 1976. WVII is the only television station in Bangor to have never switched its network affiliation. It is also one of only two stations in Bangor to broadcast in Stereo.
In 2000, Rockfleet made its first venture into UHF broadcasting, leasing channel 30, a former secondary PBS station. The station changed its call letters to WCKD and network affiliation to UPN. In 2003, after an attempt to affiliate WCKD with FOX failed, Rockfleet purchased a new station. The station was assigned the call letters of WFVX-LP, was set up to broadcast on channel 22, and received the FOX affiliation.
[edit] Newscasts
WVII has always had local newscasts, but they have never had the same level of success as the two older stations in the market, WABI and WLBZ. WVII currently airs newscasts, under the branding of ABC 7 News, weekdays at 6 and 11 PM and also produces one at 10 PM for sister station WFVX. WFVX's 10 PM and WVII's 11 PM newscasts are taped earlier in the evening. [1] For all newscasts, WVII outsources weather to AccuWeather in State College, Pennsylvania.
