Yoav Galant

Aluf Yoav Galant (b. 1958) is the commander of the Israel Defense Forces Southern Command.

Born in Jaffa, Israel, Galant received a B.A. in Business and Finance Management from the University of Haifa. He began his military career in 1977 as a naval commando, in the unit called Flotilla 13. In the late 1990s Galant moved into land forces, eventually becoming the Military Secretary of the Prime Minister and commander of Southern Command.
