Yusmeiro Petit (born November 22, 1984 in Maracaibo, Venezuela) is a rookie starting pitcher in Major League Baseball who plays for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Petit bats and throws right handed. He made his debut on May 14, 2006.
Petit ranked second in the New York Mets top-10 prospects list behind Lastings Milledge, according Baseball America. He came to Florida along with first baseman Mike Jacobs, infielder Grant Psomas and cash, in the same transaction that brought Carlos Delgado to the Mets. Diamondbacks acquired Petit from the Florida Marlins on March 26, 2007 in exchange for reliever Jorge Julio and cash.
