[edit] From a Respectable Lithuanian Jewish family
Suggest something a little more specific, i.e. did he come from a line of rabbis or did he have a particularly notable ancestor. "Respectable" in American English usage connotes something very modest -- membership in the middle class, no history of murders or other serious crimes, things like that.
