I haven't lived there in many years, I just felt like saying I was there on the article page. I miss some of it. Has the economy become a blackhole? I know there wasn't much sustaining at the turn of the last decade. How has Providence changed? Did they work out those monuments near the bus station downtown? Is it still dumpy in Providence? You eat quahogs and clamcakes? I remember going to Westerly about every summer for swimming, then onto Block Island at Pt. Judith. How is the island? I heard it was getting ultra-expensive like the Vanderbilts' place. There are outrageously high prices and taxes right? Roger Williams Zoo, is it bigger, smaller, different? - Not sure if the economy is a black hole, I'd say it pretty much moves with the economy around it. I grew up in Coventry, went to school in Mass., and now I work for the Navy in Newport. I'm not sure how the job market is elsewhere, but I have gotten offers, and people do seem to be hiring. Providence is beautiful nowadays, especially since about 5-10 years ago. The Providence river is uncovered, and they made a nice park out of it. It's a nice place to visit now with the riverwalk and WaterFire. I love quahogs and clamcakes, and since you reminded me, I'm going to have to stop at Long Wharf tonight and get some littlenecks. I haven't spent a whole lot of time on Block Island, so I can't vouch for how expensive it is, but the beaches are definately a nice as ever. I haven't been to Roger Williams Zoo since my childhood, and I couldn't tell you who lives in Woonsocket, though the line is that it's still the French. --ZeLonewolf 18:46, 28 May 2004 (UTC)
I had moved to eastern Conn from Smithfield in my pre-teen years. I missed out on a lot of fun, but I remember how quaint and removed it was from the hustle and bustle of elsewhere, save for Providence, of course. I think it might be fun to be in the Coast Guard, but I am in Arizona right now. That cuts off any enlistments for the time being. I miss the sea, so much I feel out of tune like a crappy guitar. The rhythm of the water was a very soothing thing upon my soul. I suppose the beaches like at Scarborough are huge now, eh? Some day, I'd like to live in Newfoundland, I think that it would be nice to have a Rhode Island on a greater scale. I have already been to New Brunswick. If you are like me, you'd want to stay east of the Connecticut River, because the culture and social structure changes dramatically away from British Isles oceanic life. I did see the Coast Guard school and the Polaris submarine, though. I hope to visit Rhodey again sometime in the near future. --Lord Kenneð Alansson 02:13, 29 May 2004 (UTC)
