[edit] Early life
Muamba's family fled the Second Congo War and arrived in England in 1999 as asylum seekers[citation needed] (his father having already been granted asylum in 1994),[citation needed] settling in Walthamstow, London.
[edit] Football career
[edit] Club career
Muamba impressed in school football and joined Arsenal as a youth signing full professional terms on 1 July 2004. He made his first team debut on 25 October 2005 in a Carling Cup tie against Sunderland.
In August 2006, Muamba joined Birmingham City on a season-long loan from Arsenal.[1]
Fabrice has cemented a first team place at Birmingham City, and was named a hot prospect for 2007 by World Soccer Magazine.[citation needed] He has gained the reputation of being a determined, hard working midfielder who commands the centre with the prowess of a player of vastly greater experience.[citation needed] He also has a reputation of bursting forward from midfield to support the strikers,[citation needed] but has yet to score in the blue of Birmingham.
Muamba has been linked with a permanent move from Arsenal in the summer of 2007. Birmingham City have confirmed they would be interested in signing him on a permanent deal,[2] but Reading,[3] Everton,[citation needed] Fulham[3] and Wigan Athletic[3] are all rumoured to be interested.
[edit] International career
As a naturalised British citizen, Muamba is eligible to play for any of the Home Nations, and has represented England at U16, U17 and U19[4] levels. He is the current captain for the England U19 team.[citation needed] He has also been compared to French midfield star Patrick Vieira.[citation needed]
