FactSet Research Systems (NYSE: FDS), or simply "FactSet", is a leading financial information company. Some of its competitors include Bloomberg L.P., Reuters, Thomson Financial, and Capital IQ. FactSet offers a range of financial analytics and hundreds of databases through its own dedicated online service.

FactSet was started by Howard Wille and Charles Snyder in 1978 [1]. They both left their jobs on Wall Street to start a business doing computer-based financial analysis.
According to some old-timers, the earliest clients received floppy disks delivered by bike messengers. Today, FactSet has tens of thousands of users that connect directly to FactSet's private network via modem, Internet, and WAN. FactSet has annual revenue of roughly $400 million [2].
