how does this work? is it html? do you need to know programming... what is going on? i just wanted to point out to someone that the link for documentary photography leads to a photojournalism page. This is a mistake, Documental Photography originates with the (non-surrealist or dada) admirers of the photographic qualities in Atget's ouvre. This is important because it deffierenciates the likes of Weegee from the more artistic photographers such as W. Evans and D. Lange (in the North American art world). Furthermore, the confluence of Photojournalism and photo documentarties marks the beginning of publications such as Life magazine in the Unisted States, a concequence of FSA imitation of Soviet photo publishing experimentation. I also find it important to mention that neither the FSA nor the photojournalism articles mentioned the Soviet origins of social realist photography, which is the single most important link in the development of documentary photography in terms of experimentation and output. I am writing a research paper on the matter and cannot this very second list the names of the Soviet and Czech pioneers of the movement. I have found many sources that discuss the Russian origins of social realist photography, and its political influence before and after the purges. If anyone knows how to edit an article, i will gladly pass on the information. SInce i am technologically challenged, i dare not mess with the software. It may also be a good idea to include a paragraph on The River by Pare Lorentz (scored by Virgil Thomson). This documentary is as important as the photography.
