From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The FAST protocol (FIX Adapted for STreaming) is an official adaptation of the FIX protocol, specifically aimed at optimized data representation. It provides high-throughput, low latency data communications between financial institutions. In particular, it is seen as a means to standardize the transport of high-volume market data feeds.
It is currently at the Proof of concept stage, and is beginning to be used in commercially available products.
