Fastcore
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Fastcore is a sub-genre of hardcore, started in the early 80s. Fastcore is generally played at incredible speed and is usually around a minute long. It is based on the style & roots of hardcore but with the focus being on playing as fast as possible. Examples of bands that play/played fastcore are best defined as (early) Gang Green, (early) Hüsker Dü and VOID.
Fastcore is sometimes mistaken as grindcore or powerviolence. Unlike fastcore, most powerviolence and grindcore is much faster, uses blast beat style drumming and constantly changes tempos.
Notable fastcore bands are:
- Betercore
- Gang Green
- early Hüsker Dü
- Deep Wound
- Dirty Rotten Imbeciles
- Gauze
- Kaos Endemico
- Koro
- The Neos
- Los Crudos
