From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
FC-75, also called Fluorinert FC-75, PFBTHF, Perfluoro-compound FC-75, perfluoro-2-n-butyl THF, or perfluoro(butyltetrahydrofuran), is a perfluorocarbon. Its chemical formula is C8F16O. Its melting point is -88 °C and its boiling point is 102 °C. Its CAS number is [ ] and its SMILES structure is FC(C(F)(C(OC(F)1F) (C(F)(C(F)(C(F)(C(F) (F)F)F)F)F)F)F)1F. Its EINECS number is 206-389-5. It is a derivate of tetrahydrofuran. It is practically insoluble in water.
It is one of the 3M Fluorinert fluids. It is used as an inert coolant fluid in electronics and other applications, and as a solvent.
A similar perfluoro coolant and solvent is perfluorohexane.
