FC AK is a South African football (soccer) club based in Roodepoort, Johannesburg. The club is owned by mining tycoon Azziz Kara who bought the franchise of Mvela Golden League outfit Mabopane Young Masters in late 2005 and renamed it FC AK (Football Club Azziz Kara).
More than 20 players from the top-flight and abroad were acquired to help the team win promotion.
They missed out on the first piece of silverware of the 2006/2007 season when they were beaten by Free State Stars in the final of the inaugral Baymed Cup.
The first team is guided by experienced Austrian Walter "Mr Fitness" Rautmann whose previous clubs include Garankuwa United, Black Leopards and Zulu Royals. He replaced former Manning Rangers and Maritzburg United coach Ian Palmer.
The club is currently experiencing financial difficulties and a number of players, citing unpaid salaries and monies owed to them, have gone on strike and boycotting training sessions. [1]
