Xiones (formerly Ferentus) is a MMORPG published by DQ. Since August 2005 is has been released as an open beta. Game mods and a few other players have since 2005, tested out a new Ferentus server with a patched version of the game. It seems to be identical to the game called Herrcot.
The present Ferentus test server came online in late May and while it was originally announced to only last 2 or 3 weeks, it is still working as of June 2006. The test server marks quite a few changes from the earlier open beta stage of the game. Most notably the entirely new world map, quests, and enemies, as well as a different graphics style.
Once final bugs and glitches are patched and corrected, the game is expected to go pay-to-play; likely with a monthly charge, though the price has not yet been announced.

On January 19th 2007, DQ announced on their homepage that the Ferentus project was closed.
[edit] The New Game
In place of Ferentus and its shutdowns, a new game called Xiones has been released by Ontang. It is identical to Ferentus in almost every way, with the exception that it is not in English but in Korean. An English patch can be found for the game here. Sadly, the game is not taking any more overseas players until they can free up more room or buy another server.

The Ferentus world is built on a system of team combat and trade. You may create parties and guilds. Every player has the ability to make shops or trade with other players. Many players join guilds and fight in large team battles in disputed areas.
In the original versions of Ferentus, to start a guild, the party leader has to go to the Guild Hall building and pay 10 Platinum pieces to register the guild. The party leader will then become the Guildmaster and be able to choose the guild's colors as well as invite other members into the guild (up to a maximum of 40).

The basic control commands for Ferentus are:
- /follow [name] - Follow the selected player.
- /guild [message] - Send a message to all guild members.
- /party [message] - Send a message to all party members.
- /revive - Revive you when you are dead to your bound location.
- /shop - Open a shop.
- /shout [message] - Send a message to everyone in a large radius around you.
- /tell [name] [message] - Send a whisper to the player.
- /trade [name] - Trade with the selected player.
- /quit - Exits the game.
- /camp - Brings you to the "Select Character" screen.
- C - Player information bar
- E - Switch weapon
- F - Sprint mode
- I - Opens inventory
- K - Open skills bar
- L - Mercenary Bar
- M - Mini-map
- P - Party bar
- Q - Attack/peace mode
- R - Toggle between run/walk mode

Ferentus contains only one kingdom at the moment. This is the Rog Imperial Area. The World will be expanded more by creating more kingdoms past the current borders. The Rog Area has a main city as well as three smaller cities: Palmas City, Saltic Town, and the Shadow Mine. Each City has unique traits and shops including grocers, armor salesmen, weapon salesmen, and black smiths. The cities also include bankers. The Imperial City also has the Guild Building and a place to hire Mercenaries. Each city has its own unique features, themes, and characters.

- Please also note that the Ferentus test server has a much larger map with more cities and this will eventually also be reflected on the regular East and West servers, providing a significant change to the current Map.
