Figg Kidd
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Figgkidd is an Australian hip-hop artist. His debut album What Is Figgkidd was released through a collaboration between Sony Music and the independent label Unda K9. Recorded in the United States, it was mastered by Segal who was also responsible for mastering such albums as Jay-Z’s The Blueprint and Eminem’s Slim Shady LP. The album's lead single, "I Gotta Know", featured a collaboration with American-born emcee Tech N9ne.
Figgkidd has since retained his relationship with Unda K9 and released the Australian charted single "My Oh My". In 2005, his first LP was re-released with an expanded track-listing and new press as "This is Figgkidd", also distributed through Sony BGM and Unda K9.
Most notably, Figgkidd's album features a collaboration with D12's recently deceased Proof. The two became friends as Proof stated live on TRL/MTV when asked what the biggest rumour he had heard about D12 was, he replied "that Figgkidd was the sixth member of D12". Proof then backed his discernible remark by inviting Figgkidd to record 3 tracks with him the next day in Brisbane after buying Figgkidd's album the day before.
In 2006, Figgkidd launched an Australian tour to promote the re-release of his album.
