Originally marketed under the name "Astro-Float," by the Coca Cola Company, 7 Up followed suit with the Fizz-Nik after the Russian "Sputnik." The Fizz-Nik ressembled a bubble and was marketed to create an instant ice cream float or to instantly chill soda as it passes through the bubble. The product was made up of two half-spheres that snap together with a nozzle on each side. To use the Fizz-Nik, one end of it is placed into the opening of the glass soda bottle and the other is used for drinking. The Fizz-Nik was filled with either ice cream or ice, depending on whether one wanted to make an ice cream float or chill the soda.
