Floyd Matthews
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Floyd 'Skipper' Matthews (February 3, 1903) is one of the last surviving American World War I-era veterans. Matthews was born and still lives in Florence, Alabama. In early 1919, he joined the United States Army and enlisted a month before the Treaty of Versailles. Due to the date he joined, he is considered a WWI-era veteran, because he started training after the cut-off date of November 11, 1918.
