Forest Hill Chase Shopping Centre (also known as Forest Hill Chase or simply Forest Hill), is a major shopping centre in Forest Hill, a suburb of Melbourne, Australia and is managed by Colonial First State Property Management.
The shopping center has 2 supermarkets, and 3 general items stores. Its major stores include Coles and Safeway supermarkets, a Big W discount department store, a Harris Scarfe department store as well as Hoyts cinema multiplex and an AMF ten-pin bowling centre. many other stores in a 3-level shopping centre. The architecture is distinguished by a polycarbonate construction of a barrel vault design.
The centre also used to have a Kmart but it closed down on January 31, 2007 and will be replaced with a Target in the coming months. Furthermore the current Harris Scarfe store is to be closed down, refurbished and rebranded as a Myer store from July 2007.
The shopping centre also has an entertainment floor which is level three where there is a bowling centre, a Hoyts cinema, 2-3 restaurants and a TAB. The third floor is usually open till midnight. The Hoyts cinemas in Forest Hill are noticeably cheaper than other Hoyts Cinemas by four dollars.
Also on the lower floor, near the cinemas, is a food court, that has a KFC as the main fast food retailer close to the outer entrance but does not have a McDonalds fast food restaurant. It also has a cafe and a few international food stores.
Most shops in Forest Hill operate from 9 or 10am and finish usually at 5 or 5:30pm depending on the day and on a Thursday or Friday, operates till 9pm. The supermarkets however are open from early morning till midnight. Other general retailers go with the normal trading hours as after some time, security gates at the shopping centre close down.
The shopping centre has good parking with 2 car parks - 1 being a five story undercover carpark covered ground level and rooftop parking.
Forest Hill Chase is also catered by public transport well. The bus routes 703, 736, 765, 888/889 all run through Forest Hill Chase. The centre is serviced from approximately 6am-10pm weekdays, 7am-8:30pm on Saturdays and 8am-9pm on Sundays and Public Holidays. The 888/889 run through Forest Hill to either Chelsea or Nunawading every 15 minutes from 6am-9:30pm, the 736 runs to either Blackburn or Mitcham stations every 30-40 minutes from 6:40am-7:30pm, the 765 runs to either Box Hill or Mitcham from 6am-7pm every 20-45 minutes, and the 703 runs to either Blackburn or Middle Brighton or at night, runs to South Oakleigh every 15 minutes between 9am-3pm and every 30-60 minutes 6pm-9:40pm. The reason for the 703 to skip Forest Hill Chase at certain times (6am-9am and 3pm-6pm) is due to time constraints, hence the weekdays services do not run between 6am-9pm and 3pm-6pm, however, all weekend buses of the 703 run through Forest Hill Chase. Forest Hill Chase can also be accessed easily by train at Nunawading station on the Belgrave and Lilydale lines. From there, people can catch a bus from the station to the shopping centre or walk.
