Frank FM
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Frank FM is the branding used by Nassau Broadcasting Partners for their classic hits stations in Maine (WFNK-FM Lewiston, WBYA-FM Islesboro), New Hampshire (WFNQ-FM Nashua), and Pennsylvania (WFKB-FM, Reading). The newest Frank is WORK-FM in Barre, Vermont; it signed on the air on September 15, 2006.
Nassau also employs the branding on a variety hits simulcast on Cape Cod in Massachusetts (WFRQ-FM Mashpee, WFQR-FM Harwichport). This format is similar to the pioneering Jack FM, running largely jockless and playing a wide selection of music from the 60s through current with an emphasis on older material.
[edit] Trivia
- A fictional "Frank FM" was depicted on Mystery Science Theater 3000 in 1994, named after Deep 13 assistant TV's Frank. It was a parody of Minneapolis, Minnesota's WBOB, which was branding itself "Bob 100" at the time.
- A radio station in Ottawa, Ontario once branded itself "Frank FM" for a single day as a prank to parody the rising popularity of "Male Name FM" radio branding (e.g. Jack FM, Bob FM.) The station returned to its normal branding the following day.
