Frank Trainor (born August 25, 1954 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada) is a professional songwriter and independent artist.
Frank Trainor began playing guitar and singing in popular east coast pop/rock bands as a teenager. He quickly became inspired to start writing his own songs and in the early 70's became one of the founding members of Island folk/rock group, The Troubadors. Frank was guided in his early career aspirations by Canadian media impresario Jack McAndrew, who set up showcases and tours for Frank with stars such as The Poppy Family and Gino Vanelli. Frank Trainor was discovered as a songwriter by Canada's #1 country music group of the time, The Mercey Brothers, who published and recorded a number of Frank's early songs including the Mercey Brothers #1 country hit "Our Lovin' Times". Two early songs from this time period were also recorded by Frank himself and released as a single in Canada on an independent country label. "Thursday Morning/5 O'Clock Rain" & "Here Comes Another Day" both received very respectable airplay across Canada while creating opportunities for Frank to appear on National TV as a new young "up and coming" artist/songwriter. Frank performed as a guest star on country music programs such as The George Hamilton IV Show and The Tommy Hunter Show. Frank continued to focus his efforts on establishing his profile and credentials as a songwriter while recording only sporadically, but then in 1985 he decided to take another run at the national record charts releasing four consecutive hit singles to country music radio culminating in wide success and much attention from the music industry in Canada and the USA. Those four contemporary country radio hits "You Sure Didn't Waste Any Time", "The Ring I Gave You", "Hard Drivin' Hana" and "Everybody Wants To Dance With You", all rose quickly to the top of the charts earning recognition for Frank both as a hit songwriter and as a serious contender as a recording artist.
Frank Trainor was nominated for a Juno Award in 1986 as Country Male Vocalist of the Year. He was signed as a professional songwriter by a major music publisher in Nashville in 1987. As a veteran songwriter/artist, Frank has more recently been encouraged to bring his talents and craft skills back again to the major industry in Nashville where he is considering new publishing offers. He has recently remastered and released two albums of his earlier country music recordings, including his radio hits, as well as a more current CD project [Grace & Gravity] published in 2005.
