Frankby
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Frankby is a hamlet on the Wirral Peninsula, Merseyside, England. It is part of the Greasby, Frankby & Irby Ward of the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral and is situated in the parliamentary constituency of Wirral West.
From the Old Norse for "frenchman's farm", mentioned in the Domesday Book entry for neighbouring Greasby is a free frenchman.
One famous(?) local inhabitant was Dr Maud Royden, buried in the local church St John the Divine, a suffragette.
Frankby contains part of Royden Park with its miniature railway and meres. It is also home to the Farmer's Arms pub, one of west Wirral's better pubs. An easy commute to both Chester and Liverpool, but without the house prices of neighbouring Caldy, there is a lot to recommend Frankby.
