Fred Botica (born 1947) is a radio announcer in Perth, Australia on Mix 94.5.
Born in New Zealand; the dulcet toned Botica has had over 30 years experience in the radio industry, having got his start at Radio 1XX Whakatane in 1971 and has worked at the former pirate station Radio Hauraki and 3KZ Melbourne.
He moved to Perth in 1986 and quickly established his name on the Perth media scene, by becoming involved with Channel 7 Perth as their voice over man, and 96FM's breakfast announcer. During his time at 96FM, he was best known for his Australia Day skyshow voiceovers. In 1992-93, 96FM became owned by Village Roadshow and was renamed Triple M. Staff at the station were against these changes, as a consequence Botica; along with his sidekick Captain Paul were one of many who had left, resulting in a move down the FM dial to 94.5.
Since then Botica has made Mix 94.5's breakfast the highest rating in Perth with Botica's Bunch, although in recent years the breakfast slot has had some increased competition from ABC 720's Eoin Cameron and Nova's Nathan and Nat. Fred Botica is also highly sought after by many corporate businesses for voice over work.
There was media speculation that at the end of 2006 Fred might give up radio, due to the gruelling early starts. However, his contract ties him to Austereo until some time later, and Botica's Bunch returned to 94.5 in 2007.
Away from radio, Botica is a keen supporter of the West Coast Eagles.
