Fred Mascherino

Frederick Paul Mascherino (b. July 27, 1975) plays guitar and also does vocals for the band Taking Back Sunday. Other members include Adam Lazzara, founder Eddie Reyes, Mark O'Connell, and Matt Rubano.

[edit] Early Life and Career
Born and raised in Coatesville, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Bishop Shanahan High School, Mascherino is a guitarist and co-vocalist of the rock band Taking Back Sunday. From 1992 to 1999, Mascherino was in a band named Brody, whose members included Billy Warburton, Brodie Ruland, Keith Cucuzza, and Bill Loughin. Brody released an EP on Creep Records and a full-length CD on Harvcore records. The band was also featured on several compilations, including Blackout! Records' "Punk Rock Jukebox."
[edit] Breaking Pangaea
In 2000, after Brody broke up, Masherino became lead singer and guitarist for Breaking Pangaea, a band from Philadelphia. According to Mascherino, it could be classified as "super rocked-out melodic soulful punk." Other members included drummer Will Noon, and bassist Clint Stelfox. They were taken on by Florida label Undecided Records, and produced EP Take Apart the Words and full-length CD A Cannon to a Whisper. During Fred's time in Breaking Pangaea, he gave guitar lessons at Zatzman Music in Philadelphia and at West Chester Music, in a suburb of Philadelphia.

Mascherino joined Taking Back Sunday in 2003, replacing original guitarist/singer John Nolan after Nolan left the band with bassist Shaun Cooper to pursue more "mature" musical interests in Straylight Run. Since joining the band, Fred, a family man and self-described "dork," helped the once reckless TBS lead singer, Adam Lazzara, find more balance in his life. Mascherino has also an acoustic side project called "The Color Fred" and is an avid vegan, although he "cheats" from time to time (see interview at Warped Tour[1]. Fred is a graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with a degree in Jazz Performance
During TBS headline slot of the tour, Taste of Chaos, Fred returned home because his mother-in-law is battling cancer. Taking Back Sunday had to continue without him, supported by band members from Saosin, Antiflag and Underoath.

- He is married to Elena Mascherino who is also featured on the TBS track "I'll Let You Live" off of their latest album "Louder Now".
