[edit] History
French manicures, a style since the 1970s, is chosen because it is very simple and gives nails a natural and clean look. The creation of the French manicure can be accredited to Jeff Pink[citation needed], founder of ORLY International[citation needed], in Los Angeles, CA. He got his beginnings working closely with movie producers and one day they asked him to come up with nail look that would coordinate with all of his leading lady’s costumes[citation needed]. Jeff had attended a fashion show there and noticed that all of the models had white pencil under the tip of their nails. He took this idea back to Hollywood with him and coordinated polishes to duplicate the look.
