Fulcrad
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Fulcrad was the Duke of Provence, probably succeeding Guerin.
In 845, he revolted against the Emperor Lothair I from his base of Marseille, thus destablising the entire region. The emperor did little to put down the revolt and the Marseille came under attack from Greek and Saracen pirates in subsequent years. The Vikings, too, were drawn into alliance with Pepin II, rebel against Charles the Bald in Aquitaine, and Fulcrad in the Rhone Valley at this time.
