Robert Coover

Robert Coover (s. 4.2.1932 Charles City, Yhdysvallat) on amerikkalainen kirjailija. Hän on kirjoittanut kuuluisan artikkelin ”The End of Books”. Coover on hypertekstin pioneereja. Hän kuuluu elektronisen kirjallisuuden organisaation (Electronic Literature Organisation) perustajajäseniin.
Coover opiskeli Indianan ja Chicagon yliopistoissa ja hän on opettanut monissa eri yliopistoissa. Hän on opettanut myös verkkokirjoittamista Brownin yliopistossa, jossa hän työskentelee.
Cooverin ensimmäinen romaani, The Origin of the Brunists, voitti William Faulkner –palkinnon vuonna 1966. Hänen tuotantonsa käsittää novelleja ja näytelmiä. Parhaiten Coover tunnetaan teoksestaan The Public Burning (1977), jossa hän kuvaa sympaattiseen sävyyn Richard Nixonia. Whatever Happened to Gloomy Gus of the Chicago Bears (1987) -teos puolestaan antaa hyvin toisenlaisen kuvan Nixonista.
