Gabriel "Gabi" Fernandez is a soccer player who currently plays in the La Liga with Atlético Madrid, operating in midfield in an holding role. He was linked with a move away from the La Liga to The Premiership with English giants Arsenal, Newcastle United and Aston Villa. A newspaper predicted he would fancy a move to Arsenal in the 2005/2006 January transfer window as his chances had been curtailed since the arrival of former Chelsea forward Mateja Kezman. From the season 2007/08 on, Gabi will play for Real Zaragoza in La Liga.
