Talk:Gabby Gabreski
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This page belongs at Gabby Gabreski, not at Francis S. Gabreski. The convention is to use the name by which a person is best known, not their most formally correct name. See Wikipedia:Naming conventions (common names). I am moving the page back. Isomorphic 04:35, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Cause of crash
Wasn't he brought down by his propeller striking the ground on the last strafing run....not ground fire? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.106.82.137 (talk • contribs) 18:35, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
- I researched your claims as I wasn't certain, and it appears that you are correct. According to USAF sites such as [1] and [2] Gabreski's plane seems to have struck the ground which caused his plane to crash. Neither mentions his plane being struck with enemy fire. I have edited the WWII section to reflect more of what these sources stated. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 19:20, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
