Is this gallery going to include the Kings and Queens of Great Britain and the United Kingdom or just those of England in other words from the House of Wessex to the House of Stuart. As the Kingdom of England was for all purposes abolished in 1707. Penrithguy 15:19, 26 March 2006 (UTC)
- The intention is to do this list up to Queen Elizabeth I, then a new link to the Kings & Queens of Great Britain (since James I/James VI) was king of both England and Scotland and from that point they shared the same monarch. [edit] Kings Before Alfred the Great
This list should, as the list of monarchs of England does, start with Alfred the great. He was the first man to proclaim himslef King of the English, after the defeat of the Danes, and is recognised by most as the first King of England, even though Aethelstan was technically. If no one has any objections, I'll remove those before Alfred the Great. Scalpy 22:54, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
