GamePolitics.com is a blog about the politics of computer and video games started and maintained by freelance journalist Dennis McCauley. It is often referenced by many other video game sites.
Originally maintained using a LiveJournal, GamePolitics received a visual upgrade and a new backend on 2006-09-25. Currently the site is powered by the WordPress content management system, which no longer requires users to register a LiveJournal of their own to post. The LiveJournal remains online as an archive.
Frequent topics include video game legislation, the effects of media coverage on video games and gamer culture, and stories about high profile critics and/or supporters of the industry. The activities of Jack Thompson, an activist against video game violence, are a common subject of discussion and Thompson's attempts to continue to post there, despite over fifty bannings from the site are the reason anonymous posting was banned in the livejournal version of the site. Some important figures in the gaming field have posted on the site, including IEMA founder Hal Halpin and attorney Tom Buscaglia, a defender of the gaming industry.
As of 2006-10-25, GamePolitics.com has become part of the Entertainment Consumers Association (ECA).
