Talk:GamesNET
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"include a very large number of drones" The drones on the network were left over from the previous board's administration and were one of the major causes the network could not immediately reopen after the lawsuit. The drones have not been present for quite a long time. mzima 12:47, 2006 Dec 1 (PST)

- Does this belong on wikipedia? what about DALnet, EFFnet, and the many other IRC networks? What about the IRC network sponsored and maintained by bondage.com? ::JimD 08:35, 2004 Mar 8 (UTC)
- Then add EFNet and DALNet. As for bondage.com, does it have a hundred thousand users? Does Wikipedia? There's no reason to discriminate against the major networks, especially considering their significance in Internet history. I doubt bondage.com's is quite so major.

- Although GamesNET is no longer as large a network as other networks such as EFnet (since the new name is GameSurge), this article still belongs on wikipedia because it had that name for several years. (The current GamesNET has about 50 to 100 real users - defined as users on the largest channel #gamesnet, not the total user count which seems to include a very large number of drones)

- Given that no one uses the new GamesNET and people who do likely mean to be on GameSURGE anyway, perhaps this page should redirect to GameSURGE.

- In my opinion it shouldn't, GamesNET and GameSurge are 2 different entities. However, I also do not feel that GamesNET is a significant entity at the moment. The other gaming network, EnterTheGame for example, is 10 times bigger. With that in mind, should the page be removed?

After recent legal action, what was formally GamesNET moved over to gamesurge.net since they lost the previous domain. I'm not sure this information is accurate at all anymore.

At the time of this article's inception, GamesNET was a completely different network to the GamesNET network currently at that domain. The network that was previously at Gamesnet.net has since moved over to irc.GameSurge.net.
So as a result I don't beleive this article is entirely accurate, although there aer questions whether this article belongs here at all.

The article should be accurate now, I've created a GameSurge article with most of the information from this one.

Removing "popular" which I should have done when updating the article for the name change to GameSurge.
UBeR- Libel includes statements that some person committed a crime or tort in the absence of a ruling to that effect. For example, if I write that John Q. Public hijacked my domain, it is a libel until a court agrees with that claim. It is also inappropriate to link to an admittedly one-sided and selective presentation of facts without any reference to the other side's position on the issue.

- Court has agreed to claim, therefore, all information on article as of today is factual and relevant.
