[edit] JFK Assassination
Hey, how are doing? I'm not attempting to censor you, or start an edit war, I'm just giving you a heads up. The Discovery Channel and History Channel are subdivisions of NBC and ABC respectively, and often air newsreports from the parent stations news division. Therefore I suggest that you double check that the investigations you are referring to were in fact done by NBC or ABC, and cite it to them. Also, the History Channel will often air programs like "The Men Who Killed Kennedy" but the program is not a History Channel investigation. It was done by some third party not related to ABC. If you aren't more specific about who is doing the investigations, you risk getting your entries deleted.

The reason the book description should not go into that section is that because a book cannot recreate events visually like the other things in that section. That section was set up to list video of the assassination and others who have recreated video of the assassination. I do believe that the book does belong in the article in some fashion, but not there. I'm thinking of adding a book section to the article (since there is one for Film portrayals). That information would go nicely there.

[edit] User contributions
Hi Ganfon. You can see any user's list of contributions. Go to the user page, then look at the navigation boxes on the left of the screen below the Wikipedia logo. Just below the search box you'll see a bulleted list of links. About half way down those is "User contributions". This lists all the edits the user has made (except those made to subsequently deleted pages). You can look through that list to see what edits they have made.
If you want to get a count of simply the number of edits made, you can look at Wikipedia:WikiProject_edit_counters which has links to a number of tools you can use. Some of these are not currently working, and many of them are complex to install and/or use, but they're at least available. I hope this answers your question. Best, Gwernol 21:33, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Re:WP:AIV
I appreciate your efforts, but next time you report a vandal to WP:AIV, do it according to the format posted on the page. Also, don't abbreviate. I was lucky to be able to find out from your userpage that MTPA was probably Manheim Township Performing Arts. If people didn't follow the proper format for reporting vandals, it would make the task much harder. Thanks. --Nishkid64 01:17, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Re: What Happened?
I deleted your AfD entry because it was not a nominatoin for an article to be deleted. (Please don't use it to make a point). As for the AfD notice, I removed it when I deleted that page, but an anon added it back, of which I've reverted again. --WinHunter (talk) 02:38, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Elonka
Thank you very much for your strong support in my RfA. Unfortunately consensus was not reached, and the nomination was not successful. However, I do appreciate your comments, and found them encouraging. Please rest assured that I am still in support of the Wikipedia project, and will continue to contribute without interruption. Thanks again! --Elonka 18:53, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The Lost Podcast with Jay and Jack
I just deleted this article as a failure of WP:CSD A7...an article which does not assert the notability or importance of the subject. The associated photo was deleted as an orphaned fair use image. If you would like to dispute my decision, feel free to contact me on my talk page. Thanks, Alphachimp 17:14, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Club International
I am the originator of the AfD for this article and would like to withdraw my nomination in favor of the {{notability}} tag I have placed on the article and the information I have provided on its Talk page.
If you agree with the withdrawal of the nomination (I realize you might not), could you please strike through your recommendation on the Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Club International page and note your agreement with the alternative?
Thanks.—Nicer1 (talk • contribs) 19:59, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Off Topic with Matt and Dave
A tag has been placed on Off Topic with Matt and Dave, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because it is an article about a certain web site, blog, forum, or other community of web users that does not assert the importance or significance of that web location. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 7 under Articles, as well as notability guidelines for websites. Please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources which verify their content.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material, please affix the template {{hangon}}
to the page, and put a note on Talk:Off Topic with Matt and Dave. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Calton | Talk 02:32, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
Off Topic is a podcast i mentioned their MySpace as a website in the userbox, and that can be changed to the Gcast site, but they are not soley a blog,
Poscasts are covered under {{db-web}} as "web content".
I insistantly request you reverse this immediatley.
Nope. --Calton | Talk 02:45, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] My RfA
Thank you for your support in my RfA, which I have chosen to withdraw early at a final count of (10/8/3) as it was unlikely to gain consensus. Most users wanted me to be more experienced, so I shall continue to contribute and reapply sometime in the future. I am grateful for the kind words I was given, and will do my best to improve in the areas that were cited as my weaknesses. Please always feel free to help me along with a suggestion on how I could improve, and if you ever need help, I am ever at your service. Best as always, Dar-Ape 23:22, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] My Request for Adminship
Thanks for your support on my successful Request for Adminship (final result 78 Support /0 Oppose / 1 Neutral) I have now been entrusted with the mop, bucket and keys. I will be slowly acclimating myself to my new tools over the next months. I am humbled by your kind support and would certainly welcome any feedback on my actions. [edit] Thank you for your support
Thank you for your support in the RfA on my behalf. It is an honor to have received your expression of confidence. To be chosen as an administrator requires a high level of confidence by a broad section of the community. Although I received a great deal of support, at this time I do not hold the level of confidence required, and the RfA did not pass. It is my wish that I will continue to deserve your confidence. Thank you for your support in my my RfA, which passed with a tally of 117/0/1. I hope that my conduct as an admin lives up to the somewhat flattering confidence the community has shown in me. [edit] My RFA
Hey, thanks so much for supporting my recent RFA. A number of editors considered that I wasn't ready for the mop yet and unfortunately the RFA did not succeed (69/26/11). There are a number of areas which I will be working on (including changing my username) in the next few months in order to allay the fears of those who opposed my election to administrator.
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you sincerely for your support over the past week. I've been blown away by the level of interest taken in my RFA and appreciate the time and energy dedicated by all the editors who have contributed to it, support, oppose and neutral alike. I hope to bump into you again soon and look forward to serving you and Wikipedia in any way I can. Cheers! [edit] Ron Delezio
I am interested to learn how your opinion on the notability of Delezio was derived given that you couldn't even be bothered to spell his name correctly when voting on the AfD page. Albatross2147 08:26, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
- Your spelling is atrocious. So was mine until I switched to Firefox :-). The information about Delezio is sparse but it has to be said that is the case with most articles at the start. Look at the history of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (play) for instance. However you haven't addressed my question - how on earth would you know if Delezio is notable or not - your opinion as to the current content of the article is I would suggest irrelevant. I don't think that most of the middle aged fat-assed blokes playing MLB are notable in any way whatsoever but I don't go around AfD-ing the myriad non-event articles here. If I did want to know something about Angel Bravo I might be grateful but frankly the article only contains information about this quite ordinary short career player that can be be found on specialist baseball sites. Equally the Dan Topping article has no merit on your criteria. If you want to be consistent why not expand it or merge into an omnibus article on MLB owners? Albatross2147 07:08, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
- It wasn't "my" article. Up until my reversion of the bad faith deletion I had only made one small edit to the article. Please check your facts before making patronising comments on my talk page. As is the case most of the time when deletionists are called upon to give reasons for their AfD noms or support for same you have not answered the question but have erected a straw man to knock down. Thanks Albatross2147 04:46, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for your measured response. My efforts to keep the page as a stand alone entry are concurrent with trying to find additional information and refs on the guy. It did seem to me that most of the Deletes and Merges (effectively Deletes in this case) are from fundamentalist deletionists some of whom make it their practice it seems to vote for every AfD they look at. And frankly that makes me... well... annoyed. I have only created two AfDs - one was for an article which was improved and kept and the other was for a spam article for a commercial product which somebody bragged about in a SEO blog and which was deleted. I was pleased that the former failed and in two minds about the latter because the article could have been improved and might have added to the sum total of human knowledge. That's where I am coming from. But I will try to come to grips with your viewpoint. Cheers Albatross2147 05:12, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

Incidentally I'm also a fan of The Lost Podcast with Jay and Jack, it's a great show and it is always fun to meet new people enjoying the same content. - I checked the participants list, and your name was added on December 22, and I added the welcome tag since it didn't look like anybody greeted you yet. Sorry about that. Maybe, I'll just stick to the people who joined in the last week or two. Happy editing! --Nehrams2020 01:36, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- No problem, keep up the good work. As a heads up, you'll still be listed as a new member on the newsletter when it comes out at the end of the month.--Nehrams2020 01:41, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

Hi. I noticed you're presently opposing BozMo's AfD based on inexperience, yet he's got 4800+ edits at this point. I'm worried about the edit count threshold for RfAs continuing to creep higher.

[edit] Please Help
Someone is continually vandalizing the article on Dave Winer and refuses to cooperate. I'm afraid it's turning ugly. The user name is Nirelan] and seriously Ganfon. I need your help, anything you can do to stop this onslaught of vandalism would be greatly appreciated. What should be a simply Bio over a computer scientist is turning into a personal cause for this guy and its ruining the article and efforts by many. Thank you. Testerer 19:16, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
Gafon, I have added whole sections about Dave (I added the bloggercon section) and I made a whole article about one of his websites (Weblogs.com). However, Dave's fanboys have auctually caused the article to contridict itself. The opening paragraph says "Winer was the first to implement the feed "enclosure" feature, one of several necessary ingredients for podcasting at the time it first emerged[3] although further into the article it says "- Using special "sound" and "video" tags in RSS Feeds to link to specific file types was proposed in 2000 in a draft by Tristan Louis." If another man wrote the draft for it Dave certainly wasnt the first to implement it. --Nirelan/talk
Thank you for the kind message. Take Care. -- Nirelan
- Ganfon, Nirelan did indeed create an article about Weblogs.com, by after removing that entire section from Dave Winer. He also blanked other parts of this article repeatedly, even after his edits were reverted by many others. I don't understand his contention that proposing "sound" and "video" tags means that Tristan Louis actually invented "enclosure" tags. Nirelan set off on making these edits after having a fight with Dave Winer in the comments to one of Dave's blogposts: [1]. So if you are sending kind messages to Nirelan, could you also please send kind messages to the rest of us, who are not trying to edit the article to be POV but are trying to keep it informative and accurate. Thank you. betsythedevine 03:52, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

- Dear Ganfon, so now I too thank you for that kind message. I'm not offended, and I respect your wish to step out of this mess after having been (I think) misled by Nirelan. (I'm not aware of any Winer "fanboys" at work on the article, btw.) I just wish I could get some admin to stop NIrelan from re-making edits that have been reverted more than once by others. BTW, I too spent many happy hours wielding my tiny Link-sword and saving Zelda. Hmmm, maybe I'll head up to the attic and reconnect that old NES just one more time instead of getting frustrated about wiki bios... betsythedevine 04:29, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
