Gary Jones is an English professional football player, who usually plays as a centre forward, but has played in an attacking midfield role and as a centre back.
Jones has spent most of his career playing for clubs in the second tier of the English league. He is by no means a prolific goal scorer, but has a reputation for providing goal scoring opportunities for other players. Currently he plays for Grimsby Town in Football League Two.

After a slow start to the 2005-06 season, due to lack of fitness as he was a relatively late signing, Gary provided vital goals in Grimsby's ultimately unsuccessful promotion push. He was leading goal scorer with 17 goals in all competitions and formed a very effective partnership with Michael Reddy who scored 14 goals. He was seeming going to miss the play off final due to a 90th minute red card[1] in the second leg of the semi final, but this was rescinded on appeal.[2]
His nickname of Jones "The Lump" is highly affectionate and is to distinguish him from (Rob) Jones "The Stick". It is often extended to "Lumpaldinho"[3] to compare him to Ronaldinho in a slightly comic fashion.
