Garage Days Re-Revisited (1987) |
...And Justice for All (1988) |
The $5.98 E.P.: Garage Days Re-Revisited was released October 1987. It was the first recording Metallica made with Jason Newsted playing bass, and, according to liner notes written by James Hetfield, it was recorded in just six days. An EP of covers of late-'70s and early-'80s NWOBHM and hardcore music, the band included the dollar price in the title (as well as on the cover) to ensure that fans weren't over-charged for it. The song "The Wait" was omitted from the British pressings of the album so as to conform to local industry rules about the length of EPs. Some CD printings of the album amended the price (and the title) to The $9.98 CD...
Though many fans refer to this E.P. as "Garage Days Revisited," that term instead refers collectively to Metallica's cover versions of "Am I Evil?" and "Blitzkrieg," the two b-sides of the "Creeping Death" single (1984).
The songs on this E.P. were later collected, along with other covers the band had recorded over the years, on the album Garage Inc.
This album has been out of print for several years and is considered a collectors' item.
