On the outskirts of Wigan, the semi-rural Gathurst is a recently refurbished two-platform station on the Southport line from Wigan's Wallgate station.
[edit] Service
There is generally an hourly service from Gathurst westbound to Southport and eastbound to Manchester Victoria (and beyond to Rochdale).
Sundays the eastbound service goes instead to Alderley Edge via Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport.
