GDx-VCC
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
GDx-VCC is a diagnostic machine for examining the thickness of the retinal nerve fiber layer by means of laser opthalmoscopy. The measurement is useful for early detection of glaucoma, even before the patient would miss any spots in a visual field test. The GDx-VCC is manufactured by Carl Zeiss Meditec AG.
An examination with a GDx-VCC begins by the technician entering various patient information. The machine examines one eye at a time, and the patient sees stripes of red light with a dot in the upper quadrant towards the patient's nose. The examination takes approximately 5 seconds per eye, and the report is printed after a few minutes.
