George Gao

George Gao, also as GAO Shao Qing (高韶青) in Chinese, is an [erhu] player and composer.
George Gao began studying the erhu at the age of six, he is a graduate of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, now he is an erhu instructor at the Royal Conservatory of Music of Toronto.
George Gao is a solo erhu performer performing with symphony orchestras, Chinese orchestras, chamber ensembles. He is also a composer with many film credits.

2005: Gemini Award nomination for the Best Performance in a TV series. (Canada).
1999: Recognition Award of the 13th World Festival for Young Students. (North Korea).
1985: First Prize of the Beijing China National Invitational erhu Competition and two Best Performance Prizes in two categories.
1982: First Prize at the Shanghai Junior Instrumental Soloist Competition and Silver Medal of the China National Junior Instrumental Soloist Contest.
