George A. Holt, Jr. has represented the third district of the Erie County Legislature since November 1993. He has been returned in every election since then, in 1995, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, and 2005.
Holt was the center of controversy in 2005 when allegations of improper dealings came to light regarding his involvement in "pass-through" funding to a corporation run by his son, Lamar Holt in Texas. "All-Pro Hoops Inc." operated a basketball camp for underprivileged youths in urban areas, but received funding from Erie County Government through various other charitable concerns. Holt was also alleged to have a number of tax liens placed against him by the state as a result of operating a restaurant in the City of Buffalo. Holt denied any wrongdoing.
