Geovisualization
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Geovisualization (short for Geographic Visualization) refers to techniques and tools designed to interactively "visualize" spatial phenomena. There has been considerable debate amongst geographers regarding the differences (or lack thereof) between cartography and geovisualization. For those researchers who claim interest in geovisualization, the differences land squarely amidst the connection of maps to emerging technologies that support direct interaction with the content and presentation of what they see. Additionally, it is meant to signify a strong connection to methods of Information Visualization coming from practitioners and researchers in Computer Science.
