Gerald Francis DeConto (b. August 17, 1957, Halifax, Massachusetts – d. September 11, 2001, The Pentagon) was a Captain of the U.S. Navy assigned to Chief of Naval Operations, Washington D.C.
DeConto had a masters degree in mechanical engineering. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy.
He perished during the September 11 attacks against the Pentagon. He commanded the guided missile frigate USS Simpson (FFG-56) from August 1998 through April 2000.
Each year in September, a 5K road race organized by his family and friends is held in Sandwich, MA in his honor.
