Gerald Russell

In 1979 Gerald Russell was the first to describe bulimia nervosa.

Russell was a professor and consultant psychiatrist at the Royal Free Hospital, London. In 1979 he moved to the Institute of Psychiatry at the Maudsley Hospital, London where he set up an eating disorder unit, which has been named after him.
