Geraldine's Z100FM
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Geraldine's Z100FM was a local radio station in Geraldine, South Canterbury, New Zealand. It began broadcasting on 100.2FM in June 1999 and then later on 100.7FM (Radio Frequencies, 1999, 2000). The radio station originally played music from the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. Programming included news, local weather, and occasional interviews. This later changed to more contemporary format with music from 70s to the 90s. The station was established and run by Robbie Busch, one of the youngest New Zealanders to own a radio station at age 23.
In late 2000, Z100FM changed its name to Free FM and its frequency to 100.7FM (Radio Frequencies, 2000) in anticipation of the 100-108 FM frequency spectrum opening up for mainstream radio broadcasting, thus potentially eradicating the 100.2 to 100.8FM guardband for low-powered radio broadcasting. However, the eradication of this guardband did not occur.
In 2001, the radio station was sold and was renamed Four Peaks FM and trained students from Geraldine High School.
