Gertrude Hoffman

Gertrude Hoffman (May 17, 1871, Heidelberg, Germany - October 21, 1966, Hollywood, California) was a German-born film actress who played a long list of grandmothers, old ladies, spinsters, and elderly women in films. Her acting career began in Germany and she didn't begin appearing in American films until she was already in her 60s. She appeared in The File on Thelma Jordon (1950), Caged (1950, playing Millie the tough-talking prison lifer), and The War of the Worlds (1953). Hoffman died from a heart attack in 1966.
