Glenview, Tallaght
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Glenview is a series of small estates in Tallaght, South Dublin. It is home to a population of almost 1,700 (Census 2002). The Estates include the larger Glenview Park, which includes a small shopping center (See below). The other estates are Glenview Lawns and Glenview Drive. Brookmount and Newtown road are also considered part of the Glenview Area.
Most of the houses in the estate are Three Bedroom terraced houses, but there are also Three Bedroom Semi-Detached and a small number of Detached houses. The estate is on the outskirts of the village and a short walking distance from The Square Shopping Center. It is also near the M50 motorway. The Area is seen as one of the more Pleasant areas of Tallaght, with a small population and low crime rate compared to that of other areas of Tallaght.
There are also a number of retail outlets in the middle of the estate, Glenview Shopping Centre. These include a Grocery Shop, Hairdressers, Pharmacy, Beauty salon, Post Office, Surgery and Dentist. There is also a Bed & Breakfast and a Daycare center, which has had a float in Tallaght St. Patrick's Day parade in the past.
However the Daycare center is subject to many cases of anti-social behaviour, which has included the theft of the mini-bus. The Centre which cares for Old People has had 45 reports of Damage or other Crime in the past three years (2005-2007).
Recent construction of speed bumps have come under excessive objection, not only in Glenview, but in many surrounding areas. The ramps have caused much damage to cars, due to the height of the ramps and also the poor construction. Despite these shortcomings, houses in the estate are among the most sought after in South Dublin.
